Managing contacts and the difference between leads and contacts.

What's the difference between lead and contact?

In LeadLock, the main entity you work with is the lead: someone who has shown interest (form, chat, SMS, etc.). “Contact” may refer to the same person in a different context (e.g. after they’re in your system). In many setups, “contacts” are simply leads you’re nurturing or have closed. Use the Leads list and pipeline to manage everyone.

How do I manage contacts?

Manage people in CRM → Leads. Use status and pipeline stage to separate new leads from contacted, qualified, and closed. Use tags and notes to segment and remember context. If your plan includes a dedicated Contacts section, use it the same way: add, edit, and segment by tags or custom fields.

How do I merge duplicate contacts/leads?

If a merge feature is available: open one lead, choose “Merge” or “Merge with another lead,” and select the duplicate. The system combines records and keeps one. If merge isn’t available, keep the preferred record, add any missing info from the duplicate, then delete or mark the duplicate as Lost.

How do I import contacts?

Use the same import as for leads: CRM then Leads then Import (or the Import option in Settings). Upload a CSV with name, email, phone, etc., map columns to LeadLock fields, and run the import. New rows become leads you can then assign to a pipeline stage and tag.

Where to find it

In LeadLock the main place to manage people is CRM then Leads. Use status and pipeline stage to separate new leads from contacted, qualified, and closed. If your plan has a dedicated Contacts area, it will be in the same navigation.

Step-by-step: Import and manage contacts

1. Go to CRM then Leads then Import. 2. Upload your CSV and map columns to name, email, phone, company, source. 3. Run the import; new rows appear as leads. 4. Edit records by opening a lead and saving changes. 5. To merge duplicates: if a merge feature exists, use it from the lead page; otherwise keep one record, copy over any missing info, and delete or mark the duplicate as Lost.

Best practices

Keep one record per person when possible. Use tags and notes to segment. Import with clean data and check for duplicates. Use pipeline stage consistently so contacts and leads are easy to filter.
